Fatwa Ulama LDII: Jamaah LDII No Smoking


In the midst of controversy over smoking ban by the various parties currently, the Ulama Islamic Da'wah Society of Indonesia (LDII) has long been agreed to ban LDII people / municipality smoking. Smoking ban for LDII pilgrims has been legally decided since the 1970's and continuously to be socialized in every occasion such as Quran Hadith learning time and religious advice anywhere. Until now evident both in public places or in a restricted area no LDII people who smoke.

Cigarette is not haram goods according to Allah and Rasul (Quran dan Hadith) rule like alcoholic drink or other psychotropic drugs. Hence there are no restrictions, sanctions or sin for who produce, distribute and sell cigarettes. Nevertheless smoking behavior contains many disadvantages and no benefits at all except the profit for manufacturers and vendors.

  1. A cigarette contains 4,000 (four thousand) substances / chemicals harmful to human health, including:

    • aceton, the substance of paint removert
    • hydrogen cianide, poison for the death penalty
    • methanol, a rocket fuel
    • ammonia, dimethrilnitrosamine, floor cleaner
    • nepthalene, camphor
    • toluene, industrial solvents
    • polonium, fuel lighters
    • arsenic, deadly poison insects
    • cadmium, car battery materials
    • carbon monoxide dan bhutane, toxic gases from the exhaust
  2. There are 24 fatal diseases caused by smoking:

    Tobacco is one of the main causes heart attack. A smoker's death from heart disease more than the deaths from lung cancer. Even low-tar cigarettes or low-nicotine will not reduce the risk of heart disease. Because some of those cigarettes that use a filter to increase the amount of inhaled carbon monoxide, which makes cigarettes are even worse for heart than cigarettes that do not use filters.

    Nicotine contained in a cigarette can make the smokers' heart to pound faster and to increase the smoker's body needs for oxygen. Cigarette smoke also contains carbon monoxide poison. This toxic substance walked to the flow of blood and actually block oxygen flow to the heart and other vital organs. Nicotine can narrow the blood vessels so slow oxygen flow down more. That's why smokers have a risk of heart disease is very high.

    Tobacco smoke contains many chemicals cause of cancer. Inhaled smoke contains many chemicals that can damage the lungs. These substances can trigger the occurrence of cancer, especially in the lungs. Lung cancer is the most common cancer caused by smoking. The spread of lung cancer occurs in the body quietly until a higher stadium. In many cases, lung cancer kills quickly.

    The long years heavy smokers will experience Emphysema. Emphysema is a disease that will gradually make the lungs lose elasticity. If the lungs lose its elasticity, it will be difficult to remove the dirty air. The signs are beginning with experience of breathing difficulty in the morning and evening. So easily out of breath. Other signs are often experienced severe flu, accompanied by severe cough, And possibly with Chronic bronchitis. Cough often does not stop and become chronic.

    The study on the smokers showed that the faces of men or women smokers wrinkles faster than those who do not smoke. Premature aging process has increased in accordance with the habits and the number of cigarettes smoked. The study showed that heavy smokers have wrinkles on the skin almost five times higher than non-smokers. Even the premature aging process has begun for the teenagers who smoke, such as skin wrinkles, yellowed teeth and bad breath.

    Smoking negatively impacts not only harm the lungs, heart, and respiratory tract. Smoking habits according to research damage tissue organ as well. Dozens of diseases associated with tobacco use include even pneumonia (pneumonia), gum disease, leukemia, cataracts, kidney cancer, cervical cancer and pain in the pancreas. The reason for toxins from cigarette smoke spread all over the body through the bloodstream. Smoking can cause diseases in nearly every organ of the body.

    Nicotine inhaled into the human body will damage body tissue, including the most vulnerable are the brain cells. It is ascertained that father of smokers would have child / descendant of a low level of intelligence (stupid) because the brain cells have been tainted with smoke toxic from the womb.
